Days 1-2

Arrive at San Jose airport, transfer to Parque del Lago hotel.

Activities include:

Explore the capital city of San Jose in the Central Valley by taking in a variety of cultural and natural attractions. Visit museums, such as the Costa Rican Art Museum, the Gold and Jade Museums as well as the National and Contemporary Art and Design Museums as well as the architectural gem, National Theatre.

Days 3-4

Transfer to the Costa Rican Caribbean coastline and stay at Le Cameleon Boutique Hotel. This stunning coastline is well known for its coral
reefs, multi-coloured sand beaches, coastal vegetation, and forests. On this coastline, turtles nest along the beaches of Tortuguero National Park and Barra del Colorado National Wildlife Refuge.

Activities include:

Enjoy boat rides, hikes, and snorkeling adventures in the stunning coastal forest. Spot monkeys, sloths, birds, iguanas and other fascinating wildlife, local guides can walk and talk you through the rainforest excursions.

Cahuita has the largest system of Coral Reefs in Costa Rica, including 6 species of coral, a wide range of colourful tropical fish and the occasional encounter of a harmless reef shark or stingray.

Days 5-6

Transfer to Mawamba Lodge, located in the northeast of Costa Rica in  Tortuguero, it is accessible only by small plane or boat, along the famous Tortuguero Canals. This system of rivers runs alongside the coast and cuts through beautiful primary forest which boasts the greatest biological diversity of the country. Here you will find the an important nesting site for green turtles. Other species of sea turtles like the leatherback and hawksbill also nest on the wide beaches of the park and refuge.

In this area, most of the exploring is done by small boat as there are limited hiking paths.

Days 7-8

Transfer to La Fortuna which has an elevation of 350 feet above sea level and is best known as the base from which to explore the magnificent Arenal Volcano and National Park. Stay at the Arenal Springs Resort and Spa.

Activities include:

Naturally heated thermal springs, soak in the mineral waters.

Hiking trails which pass through 2.5 km of rainforest, walk over 15 bridges from 5 to 100 metres long and some over 70 metres high. Enjoy the flora & fauna and amazing views of the Arenal Volcano.

Visit the stunning 70 metre high waterfall and hike to the natural pool at the base for a swim.

Visit the sloths! A guide will walk you along a trail to spot these beautiful animals up in the treetops.

Visit a local family of agroecological farmers and enjoy a delicious typical Costa Rican lunch made with the farm’s produce such as coffee, cheese and tortillas.

Days 9-10

Transfer to Monteverde, stay at the Koora Hotel.

Activities include:

Guided night walk of the Monteverde Cloud Forest, see bats, insects, birds
and nocturnal mammals as well as glowing fireflies and phosphorescent fungi.

Monteverde is one of the best areas to learn about the processes of cultivating coffee. The Don Juan Farm Coffee Tour provides an authentic and representative insight into the local culture of growing coffee and the history of the land.

Days 11-12

Transfer to Tamarindo, one of the best-known beach towns of Costa Rica. Stay at Hotel Tamarindo Diria Beach Hotel.

Activities include:

Surfing, kayaking, snorkelling, fishing, zip lining, tubbing down a river, horse riding, catamaran sailing.

Catamaran tour, the stunning boat will sail for about 5 miles to access some of the most beautiful, isolated beaches and snorkelling locations of Costa Rica. A snorkelling guide will show you a variety of marine wildlife, such as pufferfish, starfish, sea turtles, dolphins, and whales.
